Jack Catterall focused on Regis Prograis rather than third Josh Taylor fight

Jack Catterall, the British super-lightweight boxer, has shifted his focus away from a potential third fight with Josh Taylor and towards upcoming bouts in 2025, particularly his upcoming match against Regis Prograis. Catterall recently secured a unanimous points victory over Taylor in Leeds, avenging a controversial defeat from two years ago.

The Chorley boxer is now gearing up for a showdown with former world champion Prograis in Manchester on October 26. While Taylor expressed interest in a rematch, stating he would knock out Catterall, the British boxer remains concentrated on his upcoming fight. Catterall addressed the possibility of a trilogy with Taylor, stating, “Right now it is a chapter closed. Would we consider it in the future? Possibly, but when you have such a big fight coming up in two weeks’ time, you have to be selfish and put all your energy into that.”

Reflecting on his journey leading up to this fight, Catterall acknowledged the significance of closing the chapter on his rivalry with Taylor. He expressed his excitement about facing Prograis, a former two-time world champion, in what promises to be a high-stakes and thrilling match. Despite a previous agreement falling through, Catterall and Prograis are now set to finally meet in the ring.

Catterall emphasised his respect for Prograis and the lack of trash talk leading up to the fight, highlighting the mutual hunger for victory from both sides. An injury earlier this summer caused a delay in the fight, but Catterall is determined to put on a dominant performance and secure a win over Prograis. The 31-year-old boxer is eager to position himself for even bigger fights in the coming year, making this upcoming match a key stepping stone in his career.
