Police in Glasgow have issued an urgent appeal for information after a 19-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car and left in a ‘critical’ condition. The incident occurred on Maryhill Road near Dalsholm Road on Saturday evening when the teenager was struck by a Mercedes E220 at around 7.40pm. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the injured individual was swiftly transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Constable Scott MacKenzie, from the Road Policing Unit in Greater Glasgow Division, is leading the investigation into the crash. He is urging anyone with relevant details to come forward to assist in determining the cause of the collision. The driver of the Mercedes and their passengers were unharmed in the incident, and the road was temporarily closed to facilitate the response efforts.
The police are particularly interested in obtaining any dashcam footage that may shed light on the circumstances leading up to the accident. Constable MacKenzie emphasised the importance of cooperation from witnesses, stating, “We would ask anyone who was in the area, who has not yet spoken to officers but believes they may have information that could help our enquiry, to contact us.”
The northbound section of the road remained closed for approximately seven and a half hours following the incident, reopening to traffic in the early hours of the morning.
