A nursery worker from Scotland has spoken out about her traumatic experience following a botched breast reduction surgery, which left her in a pool of her blood. Paige Harvey, 21, decided to undergo the £8,000 surgery in 2021 to reduce her size K breasts by seven sizes. She hoped that the procedure would alleviate her back pain and painful skin tears, allowing her to pursue her dream career of becoming a paramedic.
Paige recounted how she was discharged from the private clinic just two hours after the surgery, while still feeling the effects of the procedure. During the car journey home with her mother, her wounds split open, causing her to sit in a pile of her own blood. Despite this alarming situation, the clinic reportedly reassured her that everything was fine.
Following the surgery, Paige faced a series of health complications, including multiple infections that required over 30 courses of antibiotics. Photos revealed severe infections around her breasts, particularly affecting her nipple area. Additionally, she developed a golf ball-sized lump in her breast attributed to fat necrosis, the death of fat tissue due to injury and loss of blood supply.
Three years on from the surgery, Paige continues to experience swelling in her armpits, which is currently under investigation. She advised others considering breast reduction to thoroughly research their surgeons and, if possible, opt for NHS treatment to ensure proper care in case of complications.
Paige’s ordeal highlights the importance of conducting due diligence before undergoing cosmetic procedures and the risks associated with botched surgeries.
