An Arkansas father is being charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man who was found with his missing teenage daughter.
Aaron Spencer, 36, reported his 14-year-old daughter missing on October 8, prompting Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office deputies to respond to his home. During this time, Spencer located his daughter in a vehicle with Michael Fosler, 67, according to a press release from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.
A confrontation occurred between the two men, which led to Spencer shooting and killing Fosler. Spencer was then placed under arrest on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder and was taken to the Lonoke County Detention Center.
Following the incident, Spencer’s wife Heather criticised the arrest as “outrageous” and shared troubling details in a GiveSendGo campaign. She disclosed that their daughter had been “targeted, groomed and ultimately raped by the boyfriend of a family friend,” purportedly identified as Fosler.
Heather mentioned that Fosler had been facing pending charges and was under a “no contact order,” but had still managed to contact their daughter while on bond. She described the harrowing moment when they discovered their daughter missing, leading to a frantic search and eventually locating her with Fosler.
Spencer’s wife praised his actions, attributing the safe return of their daughter to his intervention. Heather highlighted Spencer’s military background and referred to him as a “hero.”
Sheriff John Staley described the case as a “tragic situation” and extended his condolences to all those involved. He mentioned that the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office would determine whether charges should be officially filed against Spencer.
