The performance of South Lanarkshire’s health and social care partnership has been highlighted in their annual report, as per the Daily Record. The report released by the South Lanarkshire Integration Joint Board (IJB) covers the 2023/24 financial year and focuses on the achievements of the South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership (SLHSCP) in addressing ongoing challenges within the sector. The IJB had a total funding of £734 million from NHS Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Council, with an overspend of £7.6 million primarily in prescribing costs, resulting in an overall funding underspend of £6.7 million.
This report comes at a critical time for health and social care systems across Scotland, dealing with workforce shortages, financial constraints, and rising service demands. Among the notable achievements outlined in the report were successes such as the Blantyre Life Care Campus, providing reablement support, and the Home First Care at Home Service, showing a reduction in care hours post-reablement. The report also highlighted initiatives like the Primary Care Out of Hours Services, assistive technology solutions in care packages, and partnerships with Lanarkshire Carers and Action for Children.
