Comedian’s plane yoga sketch prompts flying etiquette debate: ‘Not the time or place’

A comedian’s onboard yoga performance sparks a debate on flying etiquette, with social media users split on whether it is appropriate or not.

In a recent TikTok video, comedian Daisy Doris May portrayed her comedic alter ego, Karen Moonstone, a satirical wellness guru, engaging in a yoga routine on a plane. The character, dressed in tie-dye trousers and puka shell necklaces, is seen doing yoga poses in the aisle, to the surprise of cabin crew members.

The clip shows Karen striking various yoga poses, including a headstand, as passengers look on amused. Despite an in-flight announcement reminding passengers to remain seated with seatbelts fastened, Karen continues her routine.

Opinions on the video were divided on social media. Some criticised the behaviour as inappropriate, stating that there is a time and place for such activities and that an airplane aisle is not it. Others defended the act, expressing support for aeroplane yoga as a way to stay comfortable during long flights.

While some users found the yoga performance disruptive, others appreciated the free-spirited display of movement. The debate continues as to whether in-flight yoga is socially acceptable or should be reserved for more suitable settings.

The video has sparked discussions on flying etiquette and personal space boundaries, highlighting the varying perspectives on what is appropriate behaviour during air travel. As the debate rages on, the question remains: should passengers stick to their seats or feel free to stretch and move around during flights?
