Gatehouse SWI Members Embrace Harris Tweed Brooch-Making Workshop
Members of Gatehouse SWI recently had the opportunity to learn the art of creating Harris Tweed brooches from Lorraine Jackson. The event took place during their October meeting, where Lorraine, who is a teacher at Kirkcudbright Academy, guided the eager participants through the intricate process. The session was well-received, with attendees expressing their enjoyment of the practical workshop.
The meeting commenced with a warm welcome from Margaret, a resident of Gatehouse, who introduced Lorraine as the demonstrator for the day. Despite her usual commitments at the academy, Lorraine made time during the half term to lead the workshop. Alongside the SWI members, the event was graced by the presence of Federation chair Lesley and Federation treasurer Anita, as well as guests interested in joining the SWI.

Margaret, Catherine, and Kathleen emerged as winners in the flower of the month contest. Berta expressed gratitude to Lorraine for orchestrating a fun-filled afternoon and extended appreciation to Agnes and Catherine for providing refreshments.
