The former chief executive of popular fashion brand Abercrombie & Fitch, Mike Jeffries, along with his British partner, Matthew Smith, are reportedly facing serious sex trafficking charges, as per reports. Additionally, another individual named Jim Jacobson was also arrested in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning.
The arrests come in response to allegations of sexual abuse involving young men at parties hosted by the trio in various locations across the United States and other countries. Lawyers representing Jeffries and Smith have vehemently denied any accusations of misconduct in the past.
Brad Edwards, a lawyer from the law firm Edwards Henderson, who is representing some of the alleged victims in the case and has previously filed a civil lawsuit against Jeffries and Smith, commented on the arrests. He stated, “Our firm represents all of the victims in the class action case we filed on their behalf. This arrest is a huge step on the path to justice for the many young men who were exploited and abused by Jeffries and Smith, who used Abercrombie to pull off one of the most organised sex trafficking operations in United States history.”
