Man spiked woman’s drink with abortion drug before she suffered miscarriage

In a disturbing case, a man has been found guilty of spiking a woman’s drink with an abortion-inducing drug without her knowledge, leading to a tragic miscarriage. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) revealed that on the night of August 3, 2022, Stuart Worby, 40, covertly added mifepristone to the woman’s orange juice and also administered other abortion pills during sexual activity. The woman, who was 15 weeks pregnant and intended to keep her baby, suffered a severe reaction and tragically miscarried.

Norfolk Police further disclosed that Worby’s phone contained texts to another individual, Wayne Finney, indicating the success of the planned termination. Worby was found guilty of administering a poison to procure a miscarriage and assault by penetration by jurors at Norwich Crown Court. Nueza Cepeda, 39, admitted to supplying an instrument to procure a miscarriage and had obtained the drugs for the crime.

During the trial, it was revealed that Worby purchased the abortion pills from a gynaecology centre in London, and Cepeda had contacted the centre to unlawfully obtain the medication. CCTV footage also captured Cepeda passing a white envelope believed to contain the pills to Worby. Despite his denial of the charges, Worby’s nail clippings tested positive for traces of the abortion drugs, which were also found in the baby’s post-mortem examination.

DCI Duncan Woodhams from Norfolk Police praised the victim’s bravery in coming forward and providing crucial evidence. He acknowledged the long-term impact of the crime on the victim and highlighted the complexity of the investigation into this unprecedented case. Worby and Cepeda are awaiting sentencing at Norwich Crown Court on December 6.

This horrific incident underscores the importance of consent and respect for a person’s autonomy over their own body. It serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some individuals may go to exert control over others, ultimately resulting in devastating consequences. It is crucial for society to continue advocating for and upholding the rights and dignity of every individual, particularly in vulnerable situations like this.

In summary, the case of Stuart Worby spiking a woman’s drink with abortion drugs is a harrowing example of manipulation and violation of a person’s reproductive rights. The legal proceedings and verdict shed light on the need for vigilance in protecting individuals from such heinous acts and ensuring justice for the victims. May this case serve as a call to action for greater awareness, support, and advocacy in safeguarding against similar atrocities in the future.
