Ex-husband Arrested for ‘Crime of Rage’ Murders of Wife and Boyfriend While Four Kids Hid in Home
A man has been charged with killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend in what authorities are calling a “crime of rage” while the woman’s four children hid inside the home. David Phillip Turner, 33, of Miami, Florida, was apprehended on a beach in Fort Lauderdale and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the August brutal killings of Crimea Malita Baker, 33, and Sean Antoine Lange, 34.
The lifeless bodies of the couple were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inside the bedroom of their residence in New Market, Maryland, on August 25. Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins revealed in a press briefing that the perpetrator, Turner, allegedly entered the house through the back door around 1 am and found Baker and Lange in bed. He proceeded to unleash “more than 42 rounds” at close range, resulting in the demise of the victims.
Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene around 7 am and located the deceased individuals. Miraculously, the four children, all under the age of 13, were found unharmed within the house. Turner is reported to be Baker’s ex-husband and the father of three of the children, while Lange was the father of the fourth child.
Law enforcement officials stated that there was no prior contact between the suspect and his ex-wife before the tragic attack. Sheriff Jenkins condemned the incident as “a heinous violent crime – a targeted double murder – and a crime of rage and anger,” underscoring the profound impact it has had on the local community.
An arrest warrant had been issued a month prior to Turner’s capture, which took place on a south Florida beach. The arrest was made possible through a joint effort involving Fort Lauderdale Police, the FBI, and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office. Turner faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder, home invasion, and two counts of use of a firearm in a violent crime.
Turner is currently detained at Broward County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Florida awaiting extradition to Maryland. Sheriff Jenkins expressed gratitude towards the community for their assistance in the investigation and their patience during the apprehension process, assuring them that this was a targeted domestic-related crime.
