Castle Douglas Flower Club members enjoy festive display at their recent meeting

Castle Douglas Flower Club members were delighted by a festive display showcased at their recent meeting. The event, held in November, welcomed an impressive turnout of members and visitors. The club’s president, Sheila Pook, introduced the evening’s demonstrator, John Dalton from Cumbria, who presented his stunning Christmas-themed creations.

John Dalton amazed the audience with a variety of floral arrangements, starting with a white sleigh adorned with pink Canterbury bells, gerberas, carnations, and an illuminated reindeer. He also crafted a large urn filled with dried eucalyptus, holly, and chrysanthemums. Another display featured a white garden planter brimming with ivy, white roses, and pink gerberas, while an Aladdin-style container showcased a pineapple surrounded by roses and sweet williams.

The highlight of the evening was a tall pedestal design resembling an Arabian man, featuring holly, greenery, roses, stocks, and anthuriums. John kept the audience entertained with humorous anecdotes throughout his demonstration. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Brownie Wright, followed by a raffle and refreshments, setting the stage for a hands-on workshop scheduled for the December gathering.

The Castle Douglas Flower Club’s festive display left attendees inspired and in awe of John Dalton’s creative talents. The upcoming workshop promises an engaging and interactive experience for members eager to explore their own floral artistry.

In conclusion, the event not only showcased the beauty of floral design but also brought together a community of flower enthusiasts to celebrate the festive season. The intricate arrangements displayed by John Dalton served as a source of inspiration for those in attendance, highlighting the artistry and creativity of floral design. The upcoming workshop is set to further engage members in hands-on learning and foster a deeper appreciation for the art of flower arranging.
