More than 150 guests attended the North Lanarkshire Council’s annual tenants’ conference, where the Working Together theme was embraced. The event, held at the Riverbank Community Hub in Coatbridge, brought together tenants, staff, and partners to shape housing services and make a difference in the communities. Discussions revolved around key topics and future plans, including the Rent Assistance Fund, online rents, and support for pensioners such as winter fuel payments. A highlight was the formal launch of the new Tenant Participation Strategy, chosen by tenants themselves.
Feedback from the conference was overwhelmingly positive, with 99% of attendees rating the event as “very good” or “good”. Angela Malcolm, a resident in Glenmavis, expressed her enthusiasm for the conference and the opportunity to address housing managers about important issues. Linda Savage from Moodiesburn praised the event for providing direct information and networking opportunities. Lunch, raffle prizes, and a market place with various service providers added to the programme.
Councillor Michael McPake commended the growing tenant participation and thanked all attendees for making the conference a success. Tracy Lennon, tenant participation manager, highlighted the increase in tenant involvement and encouraged further engagement.
