A new scheme that aims to attract aspiring entrepreneurs to the Tech Industry is set to launch by the Rotary Club of Ayr. The project, named the ‘Whetstone Tech Workshop Entrepreneurial Hub’, will cover Ayrshire and operate from Prestwick Airport. Successful applicants will receive guidance and support to help develop their businesses. Ieuan Isaac of the Rotary Club of Ayr stated that the project focuses on providing workspace at Prestwick Airport and encouraging potential applicants to express their interest following the release of an invitation video. The video aims to inspire young entrepreneurs with computer skills to pursue opportunities in the tech sector within a shared workspace easily accessible by public transport.
The initiative has received government backing, with MSP Richard Lochhead featuring in the invitation video as a representative of the Scottish Government’s business division. The project has also garnered support from Mike Stewart, Director of Storm Aviation at Prestwick Airport, which specialises in international aircraft maintenance. Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications, including their full name, email address, contact number, a brief bio highlighting their computer literacy and skill level, and a description of their goals and aspirations in under 100 words. The application process concludes with selected candidates being invited for interviews to establish terms and conditions for participation.
