A Scottish drug dealer has been sentenced to five years in prison after leading police on a high-speed chase at 120mph with £2.5 million worth of cocaine in his car. Dylan Nicol, 24, attempted to evade police on Kingsway in Dundee, driving recklessly in his Volkswagen Golf. Despite officers pursuing him, Nicol was eventually captured, and 13 packages of cocaine were discovered in the boot of his vehicle, valued at nearly £2.5 million.
Nicol pleaded guilty to charges of drug supply and dangerous driving at the High Court in Edinburgh. Following his sentencing at the High Court in Inverness, he will also face confiscation proceedings under Proceeds of Crime legislation to recover any illicitly obtained funds. The police had been monitoring Nicol’s Golf as it travelled from Perth to Dundee on the suspicion of drug transportation. When attempted to be stopped near the Swallow roundabout in Dundee, Nicol accelerated to speeds of up to 120mph, swerving through traffic.
After deploying a stinger to puncture his tires, officers surrounded Nicol’s car, signaling for him to stop. Despite hitting the stinger and continuing to drive at 80mph, Nicol was eventually apprehended after passing through a red light. The police found taped packages of cocaine in a cardboard box in the boot of his vehicle, with an average purity of 79 per cent.
