Outlander actor accused of raping unconscious woman at Glasgow hotel before co-star intervened
Canadian actor Greggory Odjig is facing allegations of raping a woman at a Glasgow hotel, where fellow actor Glenn Gould stepped in to protect the woman, a court heard. Gould, known for his role as Chief Bird in the TV series Outlander, testified on the fourth day of Odjig’s trial. The incident allegedly occurred at Premier Suites Plus serviced apartments on Bath Street in May 2021. Odjig, who portrayed Satehoronies in Outlander’s fourth season, is accused of assaulting a 34-year-old woman who was unconscious.
During the trial, Gould stated that as a First Nations man from Canada, it is their duty to protect women and children in the community. The woman testified that she had become unconscious after consuming sparkling wine in Odjig’s suite. She later woke up to find herself in a compromising situation, with her leggings missing. The prosecution argues that she was in no state to provide consent, making the alleged act non-consensual.
The encounter took place after the woman and Odjig met Gould at a supermarket near the hotel. Odjig invited both of them to his apartment, where the woman later passed out. Gould raised concerns when he noticed Odjig’s inappropriate behaviour towards the woman. The trial revealed that Odjig was found in bed with the woman, with allegations of removing her lower clothing.
Gould intervened by confronting Odjig and urging him to respect women, pointing out the woman’s vulnerable state. Odjig denies the rape allegation, with the trial ongoing. While a previous claim of assault against Odjig was dropped, the serious nature of the accusations continues to be investigated by the court.
