Perthshire Drivers Warned of Pavement Parking Ban
Perthshire drivers are being urged to adhere to new parking regulations as the Perth and Kinross Council prepares to implement a pavement parking ban on January 6. The council announced the forthcoming ban as part of The Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 back in October. Residents of a Perthshire village, Inchture, were surprised to find what seemed to be penalty notices on their vehicles weeks before the ban takes effect. Despite the official PKC headed paper stating “Perth and Kinross Council Penalty Charge Notice,” it was clarified that the notices were warnings rather than actual fines.
The legislation aims to address issues such as pavement parking, double parking, and parking across dropped kerbs to enhance pedestrian safety, especially for individuals with mobility challenges, visual impairments, and parents with pushchairs.
