‘I took my daughter to KFC, little did I know I was walking into a trap’

Man Feels Shocked and Betrayed After Getting Parking Fine at KFC

Gordon Teh, a 51-year-old man from Bearsden, was left feeling shocked and betrayed after receiving a £100 parking fine for spending too long eating a meal at KFC with his nine-year-old daughter. The incident took place at the KFC location in Darnley, Glasgow, where Gordon parked at 4:49 pm and left at 6:06 pm on November 3, exceeding the 60-minute parking limit by approximately 17 minutes.

The parking fine, issued by Creative Car Park, the private company managing the KFC car park, was later reduced to £60 as Gordon paid within 14 days. Gordon expressed his disbelief at the situation, stating that he had never encountered such a notice before and felt outraged by the experience that marred what was supposed to be a pleasant day out with his daughter. He mentioned that he had no prior knowledge of the time limit and believed that an hour is insufficient for a meal at a restaurant, especially when dining with children who eat at a slower pace.

Gordon called for an extension of the time limit to prevent others from facing similar consequences and vowed never to visit a KFC again. A spokesperson for Creative Car Park defended the issuance of the parking fine, citing a breach of parking terms and the need to ensure parking turnover for all customers, especially during peak times. The spokesperson emphasised the importance of drivers familiarising themselves with parking terms and utilizing the appeals process if deemed necessary.

Additionally, a KFC spokesperson acknowledged the parking restrictions in place by the external parking operator at the Nitshill KFC and encouraged Gordon to reach out to address the situation. This incident sheds light on the challenges faced by customers regarding parking regulations and the need for clear communication between businesses and parking operators to avoid such contentious scenarios in the future.

In conclusion, Gordon Teh’s unfortunate experience at a KFC car park highlights the importance of transparent parking policies and the impact they can have on customers. It serves as a reminder for businesses and parking operators to ensure clarity and fairness in their parking regulations to provide a positive experience for patrons.
