Erskine Man Escapes Jail After Sending Vile Messages to ’10-year-old Girl’
A man from Erskine narrowly avoided a jail sentence after being branded “every parent’s worst nightmare” for sending indecent messages to someone he believed was a 10-year-old girl. Mark Fraser, a 50-year-old, engaged in explicit conversations with an undercover police officer posing as a young girl, discussing sexual abuse of children and describing the age of 10 as “cute” and “sexy”. He even claimed to have had sexual interactions with a young girl living near him. Police discovered indecent images on his phone during a raid on his home.
Fraser’s online conversation with the undercover officer included explicit details and descriptions of sexual acts with a young girl. He was later found in possession of Category C images of female children aged between six and eight years old. Despite claiming he thought he was talking to the father of a child, Fraser’s excuse was dismissed by Sheriff Gillian Craig. Fraser was sentenced to 195 hours of unpaid work, three years of supervision, and ordered to undertake a program for sexual offenders.
