A Wishaw church has expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the public for their incredible generosity in providing toys for underprivileged children this Christmas. Pathway Church in Wishaw has been collaborating with MADE4U IN ML2 since 2021 for their annual community Christmas Toy Drive, specifically aimed at supporting children in the ML2 area. This year, the initiative has been especially impactful as families continue to face the challenges of the deepening cost of living crisis.
The local community has shown immense kindness by purchasing new toys, selection boxes, and contributing financially towards the project. Additionally, donations of gifts from the Amazon gift list and purchasing gift cards for older children and teenagers have further enriched the campaign. Project co-ordinator Hazel Fisher expressed her gratitude, stating, “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the community and local businesses. Whether it was arranging toy collections from customers, staff, or giving a financial donation or volunteering time, we couldn’t help the number of families we do without this support.”
Thanks to the collective efforts of volunteers, approximately 480 children and young people will wake up to presents on Christmas morning. The church’s Sparkle and Shine Christmas clothing project has also been a resounding success. With the assistance of 14 dedicated volunteers who contributed over 120 hours of their time, 244 children were provided with Christmas jumpers, party outfits, and Christmas pyjamas.
Hazel further commented, “It’s great to be able to help families in this way as the cost of buying new Christmas clothing every year can be an added stress in an already expensive month. We are delighted that so many people donate their preloved Christmas clothing to this project and that lots of local kids and families can benefit from this.” The initiative also saw an increase in families exchanging Christmas clothing their kids had outgrown for new outfits, fostering a sense of community support and sustainability.
In conclusion, the church extended their gratitude to all supporters and wished everyone a wonderful Christmas and a blessed 2025. The community projects of the church concluded for the year with a Christmas family lunch for local families, made possible with the generous donation of toys and gifts from Keir Construction. Additionally, appreciation was expressed towards several businesses for their contributions to the project, demonstrating the power of community collaboration and support.
