A disturbing case has emerged where a paedophile paid mothers in the Philippines to watch their children being abused on livestreams, resulting in his imprisonment. Peter Swan, 62, was found guilty of making indecent advances to women between 2015 and 2023 through social media and dating apps, offering money in exchange for live streams or videos of children engaged in sexual acts. The authorities launched a search warrant in Orton Malborne, Peterborough, after Swan uploaded an indecent image of a child online in February 2023. Subsequently, laptops and a mobile phone were seized from Swan’s residence, which contained nearly 3,000 indecent images of children. Despite being bailed with conditions after voluntary questioning, Swan was rearrested in November 2023 when incriminating Skype messages came to light.
The court sentenced Swan to 16 years in jail on three counts of arranging/facilitating the sexual exploitation of children under 13 and one count involving children aged between 13 and 17. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children without receiving a separate penalty for these crimes. Judge Sean Enright condemned Swan’s actions as a targeted assault on children in a vulnerable situation, emphasising the severity of the offences committed. PC Alex Cochrane from Cambridgeshire Constabulary condemned Swan’s actions as manipulative and harmful to both the women involved and the abused children.
