Vile quadruple amputee struck bus passenger with hook and bit police officers in brawl

Vile quadruple amputee assaults bus passenger and police officers in altercation

A shocking incident unfolded at Perth Bus Station involving Thomas Proudfoot, a quadruple amputee with a history of offences. Proudfoot, who lost all his limbs in a train accident, engaged in a violent altercation where he struck a bus passenger with his prosthetic arm and proceeded to assault police officers. The brawl resulted in injuries to the victim and officers, showcasing the severity of the situation.

The disturbance began when Proudfoot, appearing to be under the influence of an unknown substance, attracted police attention while on the bus. When passenger Wayne Mysiuk intervened to calm the situation, Proudfoot spat at him and proceeded to strike him with his prosthetic hook, causing Mysiuk to fall to the ground. Subsequently, when police intervened to arrest Proudfoot, he further lashed out by spitting, biting, and causing harm to the officers.

During the court proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court, Fiscal depute Stephanie Paterson detailed the sequence of events, highlighting the aggressive behaviour displayed by Proudfoot. Despite apologising to Mysiuk initially, Proudfoot’s actions took a violent turn, resulting in multiple assaults and disturbances.

Proudfoot, 28, from Methven, Perthshire, pleaded guilty to the charges of assaulting Mr. Mysiuk and the police officers. As a consequence, he was placed on a two-year community payback order and under supervision by Sheriff Clair McLachlan. Despite expressing remorse for his actions and acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Proudfoot’s violent behaviour has raised concerns about public safety.

In previous incidents, Proudfoot had been sentenced for a vicious sex attack and had displayed a pattern of violent behaviour. Despite his physical limitations, Proudfoot’s actions underscore the importance of addressing underlying issues that contribute to such aggressive outbursts. The community must remain vigilant to prevent similar incidents in the future.
