‘Tam in the tunnel’ as Alloway arts project unveils latest installation ahead of Burns Night
Alloway, Scotland – A spectacular community arts project in Alloway has unveiled its latest installation just in time for Burns Night celebrations. The project, which aims to create one of Scotland’s longest murals, has added a rendition of the legendary tale of Tam O’Shanter to the revamp of Alloway Railway Tunnel.
The tunnel, located near the birthplace of poet Robert Burns in Alloway, is undergoing a transformation into a colourful new visitor attraction and community space. The Tam O’Shanter scene, depicting the moment Tam sets off on his fateful journey with his old mare Meg, was installed by acclaimed artist Chris Rutterford.
Ron Ireland, Chair of the Alloway Railway Tunnel project, expressed pride in incorporating Tam O’Shanter’s story into the mural, highlighting its significance in Scottish heritage.
