US Grand Prix Organiser Reveals Surge in 2024 F1 Ticket Sales
The United States Grand Prix chief, Bobby Epstein, has shed light on the rapid increase in ticket sales for the 2024 Formula 1 event in Austin. According to Epstein, the recent winless streak of Max Verstappen has contributed significantly to the surge in ticket purchases.
Verstappen, who dominated the previous F1 season with 19 wins out of 22 races, has not secured a victory in the last eight races. Despite leading the world championship by a considerable margin, his lack of recent wins has added a new level of unpredictability to the sport, sparking increased interest among fans.
Last year’s US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas drew over 430,000 spectators. Concerns arose that this year’s event might see decreased attendance due to the pandemic. However, Epstein is confident that the current competitive landscape in F1 has allayed those worries, leading to a significant uptick in ticket sales.
The upcoming race in Austin will mark the fourth sprint weekend of the 2024 season and will coincide with the first race since Liam Lawson replaced Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull Racing. Ricciardo, a popular figure in the United States, is fondly remembered for his charismatic interactions with fans in Austin, including riding a horse through the paddock while sporting a cowboy hat.
While Epstein hopes Ricciardo will still attend the event despite not racing competitively, he emphasised that the Australian driver remains a beloved figure in Texas. The race weekend will also feature a performance by rapper Eminem, adding to the excitement for attendees.
In addition to the F1 race, Austin will host a highly anticipated college football game between the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs during the Grand Prix weekend. Epstein expressed enthusiasm for the vibrant atmosphere and diverse entertainment options that will be available to attendees during the event.
The United States Grand Prix in Austin is scheduled to take place on 18-20 October, marking a highlight in the 2024 F1 calendar. With the blend of sporting action, musical performances, and other attractions, the organisers are expecting an unforgettable weekend for fans and spectators alike.
As the F1 season resumes after a brief hiatus, all eyes are on Austin for what promises to be a thrilling Grand Prix weekend packed with racing excitement and entertainment for all attendees.
