Drug Dealer Receives Extended Sentence for Court Outburst
A recent court case in Exeter took an unexpected turn when Callum Currey, a 25-year-old drug dealer, received an additional one-month sentence for contempt of court after shouting an abusive word while being escorted to the cells. This outburst came after Currey was handed a three-year and nine-month sentence for his involvement in prolific drug dealing activities in the area.
The incident occurred at Exeter Crown Court, where Currey, of no fixed abode, repeatedly disrupted proceedings before his final outburst of calling someone a “w****r.” The judge, Stephen Climie, expressed his frustration with Currey’s behaviour, especially when discussing his early release from a previous prison sentence due to a potential administrative error.
Currey’s criminal activities included supplying heroin and cocaine on multiple occasions, with one arrest in September 2022 leading to the discovery of drugs worth £3,320 and a significant amount of cash.
