Hero Pilot Shares Terrifying Theory on American Airlines Crash
Captain Chesley Sullenberger, renowned for his remarkable landing on New York’s Hudson River in 2009, has put forth a chilling theory regarding the recent American Airlines tragedy in Washington DC. The disaster occurred when a commercial jet from the airline collided with a Black Hawk helicopter, resulting in the loss of 67 lives – 64 on board the plane and three soldiers in the Army chopper. Captain Sullenberger, popularly known as “Sully,” has indicated that the combination of flying over water at night could have been contributing factors to the crash. Drawing parallels to his own experience with Flight 1549, Captain Sullenberger likened the tragedy to a misaligned row of dominoes, emphasising the critical nature of adhering to best practices in aviation to prevent catastrophic events. Unlike the Miracle on the Hudson, where he successfully landed the plane and all passengers survived, the recent crash highlights the unforgiving consequences of lapses in protocol, especially during night operations over challenging terrains like short runways.
