A compassionate woman from Paisley is sacrificing her sleep comfort to raise crucial funds for a children’s charity. Susan Lauder is gearing up with her sleeping bag, woolly hat, and hot water bottle to gather donations in support of Action for Children Scotland. Alongside her daughter, Megan, and colleagues from the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework partnership (SCQFP), Susan is participating in the annual Boycott Your Bed event. This initiative involves spending a night sleeping out in Glasgow city centre with only a sleeping mat and bag for protection against the elements.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the cause, Susan shared with the Paisley Daily Express, “I’m very excited to take part in Boycott Your Bed with my daughter and colleagues. We want to raise as much money as possible to help children living in poverty, so please donate what you can.” Action for Children Scotland focuses on safeguarding and advocating for children and young people by providing practical and emotional support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning for long-term improvements in their lives.
The SCQFP team’s fundraising efforts aim to assist Action for Children Scotland in supporting more children and young people, especially considering that over four million children in the UK currently live in poverty. Those willing to contribute to the team’s cause can show their support by visiting the JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/team/scqfp. The initiative highlights the importance of coming together to create positive change and support those in need.
In a time where child poverty remains a pressing issue, the dedication shown by individuals like Susan Lauder and her team serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter future for vulnerable children and families. By uniting for a cause greater than themselves, they are making significant strides towards building a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
