Dumfries and Galloway Train Services Set to Return to Normal
Train services in Dumfries and Galloway are expected to return to normal as ScotRail announces the reinstatement of its full timetable following a schedule reduction in July due to a pay dispute with unions. The resolution of this dispute means that the regular timetable will resume starting on Monday.
ScotRail’s service delivery director, Mark Ilderton, expressed his delight at the news, stating, “We are delighted to confirm that our full timetable will return on Monday. We have been working round the clock to deliver this in a very short space of time because we know how important a full service is to our customers.” He further acknowledged the challenges faced by customers and staff in recent months and thanked everyone for their patience.
The temporary timetable was put in place during the dispute, resulting in fewer available drivers for rest days and overtime. This led to alterations in the schedule, such as the final Glasgow to Dumfries train departing at 7.13pm instead of 10.14pm, and the last train from Carlisle to Dumfries leaving at 9.11pm rather than 11.10pm.
The return to the full timetable signifies progress and stability for commuters in the region, with ScotRail now focusing on providing a safe, reliable, and sustainable service to its customers.
