Donald Glover cancels Childish Gambino tour dates after recent surgery

Donald Glover, the multi-talented artist known by his stage name Childish Gambino, has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining dates of his North American and European tour. The announcement came after Glover revealed that he had recently undergone surgery due to an undisclosed ailment.

The acclaimed musician, actor, and creator of the TV series “Atlanta” shared the news with his fans on Friday, explaining that following his show in New Orleans on September 7, he underwent tests at a hospital which led to the cancellation of his Houston performance the next night. In a statement posted on X, Glover did not delve into specifics about his condition but expressed the necessity to focus on his path to recovery.

Childish Gambino’s tour, titled “The New World Tour,” marked his return to the stage since 2019. The tour kicked off on August 11 in Oklahoma City and was set to visit numerous major cities in North America before heading to Europe, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia in early 2025. The cancellation of the tour affects more than 30 scheduled dates across North America, the UK, and Europe, with Glover assuring fans that ticket refunds will be issued.

In his message to supporters, Glover conveyed his deep desire to bring the show to his fans and perform live once again, expressing gratitude for the love, privacy, and support he has received during this challenging time. As fans await further updates on his recovery, Glover’s decision prioritises his health and well-being, resonating with his commitment to his artistry and the impact it has on his audience.
