An upcoming affordable housing development is set to transform a village in Ayrshire, providing much-needed accommodation for residents. The development will take place in Kirkmichael on agricultural land located across from 42 to 46 Bolestyle Road. It has been revealed that a total of 12 homes will be constructed on the 0.45-hectare site, consisting of four detached and four semi-detached properties.
The planning application for this project was submitted by Ayrshire Housing Association, who successfully secured a renewal of a previous permission granted in 2021. The latest approval allows for the extension of the timeline to implement the residential development. The proposed design of the homes remains unchanged from the original plans.
The housing development will comprise a mix of properties, including semi-detached dwellings and detached houses strategically positioned throughout the site. In addition to the residential units, the plans also include the construction of a new access road towards the southern corner of the site. Each property will have private parking either within their grounds or in a designated parking court accessible from Meadowbank Place.
Furthermore, the properties will feature private garden areas for residents to enjoy, along with a shared open space at the entrance of the site from Bolestyle Road. The development aims to provide affordable housing options managed by a local housing association, offering a combination of single-storey and one-and-three-quarter storey buildings.
The decision to approve the renewal of the application was made after considering the lack of significant changes in the site’s surroundings and the continued need for affordable housing in the area. The local council recommended the approval of the project, as it aligns with the planning history of the site and serves the general interest by addressing housing needs.
The new affordable housing development signifies a positive step towards addressing the housing shortage in Ayrshire and providing residents with quality homes managed by a reputable housing association. Residents can look forward to modern, well-designed properties in a convenient location that prioritises community living.
