Police are conducting a thorough search of a river in North Yorkshire in the hopes of finding missing mother, Victoria Taylor, after some of her belongings were discovered nearby. The 34-year-old disappeared from her Malton home on September 30, prompting concern from authorities.
Recent developments have revealed that Victoria was seen on CCTV leaving her residence at 9am, making purchases at a BP garage in Norton at 11.35am, and then appearing at Malton Bus Station shortly afterwards. Notably, CCTV footage acquired in the last 24 hours shows Victoria heading towards a playground on Riverside Walk around 12.30pm, where several items belonging to her were located.
Chief Superintendent Fiona Willey disclosed, “Based on the discovery of Victoria’s belongings so close to the water’s edge, we must accept the significant possibility that Victoria has entered the River Derwent.” Specialist search teams are utilising sonar equipment and drones to conduct an extensive search both above and below the water surface in their efforts to locate her.
Willey also addressed the misinformation and speculations circulating about the search, emphasising that such activities are unhelpful and only serve to cause unnecessary anguish to Victoria’s family during this challenging time. She highlighted the immense distress experienced by the family and assured that specialist officers are in direct contact to provide support and updates on the search progress.
