East Kilbride Dementia Carers Group has showcased their incredible handcrafted skills by creating hundreds of baby knits to donate to the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital’s neonatal unit in Glasgow.
The group’s service users lovingly made 195 baby hats, 39 cardigans, 22 blankets, 11 booties, and a pair of mittens, which will provide support to premature and newborn babies and families in need. These heartfelt donations aim to bring comfort and warmth to those in the hospital.
Staff midwife Louise Wilson recently visited the charity’s base in Greenhills to collect the handcrafted items. Since March, the team has worked tirelessly to produce 569 baby hats, 44 cardigans, 36 blankets, 31 baby bootees, and another pair of mittens.
East Kilbride Dementia Carers is a lifeline charity that offers invaluable daycare services to individuals living with dementia, providing essential support to both the sufferers and their families.
Group co-ordinator Brian Doig expressed immense pride in the knitters’ dedication and generosity. He highlighted the significance of the donations in aiding premature and newborn babies at the maternity hospital, emphasizing the positive impact the contributions will have on those in need.
