East Kilbride firefighters recently held their first Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser, which successfully raised a remarkable £1500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event was organised by trainee firefighter Rhys McIntosh, with support from the senior management team and Community Action Team (CAT). Local police officers, along with volunteers from the Loaves and Fishes charity, also attended to show their support.
The community event took place at the East Kilbride Fire Station on Andrew Street, where visitors were given tours of the station and children had the exciting opportunity to explore the fire engines. Rhys McIntosh expressed his delight at the event’s success, praising the generosity of everyone who attended and local businesses who contributed with generous donations. He also mentioned plans to make the Macmillan Coffee Morning an annual event following the positive response from the community.

Crew Commander John Armstrong commended Rhys McIntosh for his leadership in organising the successful fundraiser and acknowledged the support from local companies that donated goods for the event, including Johnstone’s Just Desserts, Coca-Cola, Sainsbury’s, M&S, Morrisons, and Tesco. The collaborative effort from the community and businesses contributed significantly to the fundraising success.
