Aston Villa boosted by injury returns ahead of clash with Fulham

Aston Villa is set to face Fulham with a boost in their squad as several key players return from injury. Ezri Konsa, John McGinn, Amadou Onana, and Jaden Philogene have all been cleared fit for the upcoming match.

Konsa had been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during the match against Manchester United, causing him to miss England’s Nations League games. McGinn also suffered a similar injury in September. Onana was forced off during the win over Bayern Munich, while Philogene picked up a knock while on duty with the England Under-21 squad. All four players have since returned to training and are in contention to play against Fulham.

Manager Unai Emery shared in a press conference, “McGinn has trained normally with us this week and is feeling good. Konsa is also feeling good, and Jaden is feeling good. I think it’s the first time this year that we have every player available to play.”

Furthermore, Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are back in full training after recovering from ACL injuries. Mings has been out since August 2023, while Kamara has been sidelined since February. Emery expressed his optimism, stating, “Progressively, they are getting better. Kamara and Mings are available for this match and will join us for the Fulham game.”

Emery highlighted the importance of having key players back in the squad, including Emi Buendia, Jaden Philogene, and Ross Barkley, to strengthen the team. He emphasised the need to maintain their performance levels from the previous season and improve further, despite recent draws. Emery sees the upcoming challenges as an opportunity for the team to grow and continue their strong form.

The return of these players will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to Aston Villa as they prepare to face Fulham in their upcoming fixture.
