Dr Amir Khan issues urgent health warning over ‘rampant’ UK virus – as antibiotics don’t work

Dr. Amir Khan, a health expert from ITV’s This Morning, has sounded the alarm about a widespread virus in the UK that has rendered antibiotics ineffective. In a TikTok video, Dr. Khan emphasized the importance of preventing viral infections, stating that while the immune system can eventually fight off these infections, it’s crucial to take proactive measures. He warned that there has been a significant increase in colds and flus this year, urging people to focus on prevention as there isn’t much that can be done medically. Dr. Khan highlighted five essential steps to reduce the risk of contracting these infections.

The first piece of advice Dr. Khan offered was to maintain good personal hygiene by washing hands frequently, especially before handling food or after using the bathroom. He stressed the importance of washing hands after coming into contact with individuals who have a cold to prevent the spread of viruses. Additionally, he recommended avoiding touching the face, as viruses can enter the body through the eyes, nose, or mouth. Regularly cleaning high-contact surfaces at home and work was also emphasised as crucial in preventing the spread of viruses.

Dr. Khan underscored the significance of keeping the immune system healthy by getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet rich in plants, and engaging in regular exercise. He urged those with cold symptoms to stay at home to prevent spreading the infection, emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene practices such as coughing and sneezing into tissues. The NHS outlined common flu symptoms and the importance of minimising its spread through good hygiene practices.

Flu is highly contagious and can be transmitted easily through coughs and sneezes, with germs being able to survive on surfaces for up to 24 hours. Dr. Khan’s guidance aimed to empower individuals to take control of their health and reduce the risk of contracting viral infections during this period of heightened sickness. By following these recommendations and being mindful of personal hygiene, individuals can better protect themselves and others from the rampant virus circulating in the UK.
