The 2025 Formula 1 season is set to kick off with the Australian Grand Prix, as confirmed by the newly released schedule. The upcoming season will see a total of 24 races taking place from March to December, maintaining a packed calendar for race fans around the world.
Australia will once again be the venue for the first race of the season, scheduled to take place on Sunday 16 March. This year’s start date has been pushed back by two weeks compared to the previous season. This means that Formula 1 fans can expect to witness Lewis Hamilton’s debut for Ferrari at Albert Park in Melbourne.
In recent years, Bahrain had been hosting the season opener, but due to Ramadan, the Bahrain race has been rescheduled to April. Saudi has also moved to April, with China and Japan now being shifted to races two and three respectively. The season will culminate with the final race in Abu Dhabi on 7 December.
The British Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 4-6 July at Silverstone, a highlight for many fans. Pre-season testing will continue in Bahrain, with three days of testing set for 26-28 February. Unlike this season, there will be no new races added to the calendar for 2025.
Looking ahead to 2026, changes are already in the pipeline with Madrid confirmed as the new host for the Spanish Grand Prix, potentially marking the end of Barcelona’s tenure as an F1 race host. Several calendar adjustments have been made for 2025, including a triple-header in April and shifts in race weekends for various venues.
Belgium and Hungary have switched weekends, with Hungary now hosting the final race before the summer break. Unlike this year, there will be no four-week gap in the autumn, with a compact schedule ensuring minimal breaks between races.
