Planning permission has been granted for a £10m employment hub at Ravenscraig, marking a significant milestone in local economic development. The project, led by Fusion Assets, aims to provide industrial space for up to 10 businesses. The approved plans include a mix of flexible industrial buildings catering to both larger businesses and smaller operations.
The hub will consist of four structures, with three standalone buildings for larger enterprises and a fourth building divided into seven units for smaller businesses. In total, the hub will offer 62,000 square feet of space suitable for office use, industrial activities, distribution, and storage.
Located strategically opposite the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, the six-acre site is part of SevenFourEight, a production and logistics hub at the heart of Ravenscraig. Following the sale of land by Ravenscraig Limited to Fusion Assets last year, enabling works have been completed, preparing the site for construction with funding from the Scottish Government’s Vacant and Derelict Land programme.
Ravenscraig director Russell Wilkie highlighted the hub’s significance in the area’s transformation, providing high-quality employment opportunities and attracting investment. Fusion Assets Managing Director Murray Collins expressed gratitude for the support from the Scottish Government and local council in driving regeneration efforts to address vacant and derelict land.
The development at Ravenscraig is part of a broader initiative to create a self-sufficient community with diverse opportunities in housing, education, transport, and employment. The employment hub is set to become a key industrial location, enhancing connectivity through its proximity to major motorways.
