Princess Cruises Unveils Exciting Features of Star Princess Cruise Ship Set to Launch in 2025
Princess Cruises has recently disclosed the enhanced dining options and expanded sports facilities that will be available on its latest Sphere-class cruise ship, the Star Princess. This upcoming vessel, with a capacity of 4,300 guests and weighing 178,000 tons, recently underwent the traditional float-out ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Serving as the second Sphere-class ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, the Star Princess follows the design of the brand’s largest ship, the Sun Princess, which was introduced earlier this year.
Similar to its predecessor, the Star Princess will run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will offer various amenities to elevate the guest experience. Passengers can indulge in a relaxing poolside atmosphere during the day and enjoy evening entertainment like Cirque Éloize at The Dome, a glass-enclosed piazza that provides breathtaking views of the surrounding sky and sea. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, guests in The Sanctuary will have access to a dedicated restaurant, while other travellers can choose from over 29 dining and drinking establishments.
However, the Star Princess introduces some new features to enhance the onboard experience. Unlike the Sun Princess, which had to reduce the size of its top deck Park19 family entertainment area, the Star Princess will include pickleball and basketball courts, a jogging track, a splash pad, and shaded relaxation spots. To address the demand for seating at popular venues, Princess Cruises has added 32 extra seats to O’Malley’s Irish Pub and increased seating capacity by 20 in the art-inspired dining venue Expanded Love by Britto. Moreover, the casino now boasts 68 additional slot machines in newly designated non-smoking areas.
John Padgett, the president of Princess Cruises, expressed excitement for the launch of the Star Princess in 2025, highlighting the ship’s enhancements designed to provide a memorable holiday experience for all guests. The vessel will embark on its maiden season in the Caribbean before transitioning to Alaska in the spring of 2026.
