Little boy obsessed with cops travels Scotland’s stations with home baked treats

Four-year-old Hamish-James Dean, who dreams of becoming a police officer, has embarked on a heartwarming journey across Scotland to deliver homemade treats to cops. Accompanied by his proud mum Lucy, Hamish has visited 83 police stations in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lothians, Dumfries and Galloway, Renfrewshire, and Argyll, distributing approximately 1,000 cupcakes to grateful police officers.

The young boy’s desire to support law enforcement stemmed from witnessing the mistreatment of police officers during riots in England earlier in the year. Lucy shared that after learning about the attacks on officers, Hamish was deeply upset and expressed a strong urge to help them. Despite the risk in England, Lucy took Hamish to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to assure him that Scotland was safe from such violence. Their first encounter with a police officer at St Leonard’s police station in Edinburgh ignited Hamish’s admiration for the police force.

For the past five weeks, Hamish and Lucy have been travelling from one police division to another during Hamish’s nursery days off. Their journey has taken them as far as Oban, with plans to visit the Western Isles soon. Lucy highlighted that Hamish takes the lead in decorating the cupcakes, with her role being the chauffeur and kitchen supervisor. The experience has been exciting for both mother and son, with Hamish eagerly anticipating each new trip.

The response from the police officers has been overwhelmingly positive, with Lucy noting that they have been delighted by Hamish’s visits. She expressed her pride in Hamish for his caring nature and strong-mindedness, believing that he will make an excellent police officer one day. Chief Inspector Graeme Gallie, Local Area Commander for East Renfrewshire, commended Hamish for his generosity and enthusiasm towards the police force, thanking him for the cupcakes and his appreciation for their daily efforts.

In conclusion, Hamish’s thoughtful gesture and dedication to spreading love and support to the police force exemplify the kindness and admiration he holds for law enforcement. His journey not only brings joy to the officers who receive his treats but also inspires others with his passion and empathy at such a young age.
