Four more arrests have been made following a case of ‘violent disorder’ in Edinburgh that occurred after a clash between Hibernian and Motherwell fans. The Edinburgh Police initiated an investigation into the behavior of football supporters following the match at Easter Road on Saturday, October 5.
A total of twelve men have now been charged in connection with the incident, with four additional arrests being made recently. Among the individuals arrested are two 19-year-olds, a 24-year-old, and a 16-year-old male youth. This comes after previous arrests where five men aged 32, 21, 20, 19, and 18 were charged for their involvement in the disturbance.
Initially, four men aged 16, 17, 18, and 22 faced charges related to the same event. Two more individuals were arrested at the time but were subsequently released without charge. The recent arrests have resulted in the five men being released under an undertaking to appear in court at a later date, with authorities also seeking football banning orders.
Chief Inspector Craig Rogerson emphasized the commitment of officers to maintain a safe environment not just during football matches but also post-events. He reiterated a firm stance against any form of football-related disorder, underlining a zero-tolerance approach to such incidents.
