Dumfries and Galloway Yogurt Producer Welcomes Royal Visitor

In a special event on Thursday, the award-winning yogurt producer, Rowan Glen near Palnure in Dumfries, had the pleasure of welcoming a distinguished guest, HRH The Princess Royal. This visit held significant meaning as Princess Anne had previously been to the business in 1997 to inaugurate the factory. The team at Rowan Glen was elated to receive her once again, honouring the occasion with her presence.

The history of Rowan Glen saw a challenging period when almost 50 employees lost their jobs following the closure of the plant by Dale Farm Ltd in autumn 2022. However, with the backing and financial support from South of Scotland Enterprise, the site was revived under the name Rowan Glen Ltd. During her visit, Princess Anne unveiled a new plaque commemorating the official opening of the factory under the new management.

The presence of HRH The Princess Royal brought a sense of pride and recognition to the workers at Rowan Glen. The visit not only celebrated the reopening of the factory but also acknowledged the resilience and perseverance of the staff amidst challenging times.

In conclusion, the visit by HRH The Princess Royal to Rowan Glen in Dumfries and Galloway highlighted the importance of community support and enterprise in revitalizing businesses. Princess Anne’s continued interest in the factory serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of all those involved in the successful revival of Rowan Glen Ltd.
