Stirling CAB launch new veterans support service to help local ex-servicepeople in need

Stirling Citizens Advice Bureau Launches New Veterans Support Service

Stirling Citizens Advice Bureau has introduced a new initiative aimed at providing essential support to veterans in the local community. The Veterans Housing Advice Service (VHAS) has been launched to assist individuals who have served in the Armed Forces or are dependants of former service personnel in the Stirling district. The primary goal of this service is to prevent homelessness and address housing-related issues by offering independent legal advice, information, advocacy, casework support, and representation.

The VHAS caters to veterans irrespective of their housing situation, whether they are renters, homeowners, or facing homelessness. The service helps with various housing issues, including applications for housing, tenancy arrangements, eviction threats, notices from landlords, and unsuitable living conditions. This new service complements the existing support services provided by the CAB in Stirling, such as advice on benefits, debt management, workplace disputes, and consumer rights.

Veterans and their dependants can access the Veterans Housing Advice Service by phone at 07983451739 or 01786470239, or online at Vera.Burgos@StirlingCAB.casonline.org.uk. Additionally, inquiries can be sent to bureau@StirlingCAB.casonline.org.uk from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 5pm.

Insights and Summary:
The launch of the Veterans Housing Advice Service by Stirling Citizens Advice Bureau demonstrates a proactive approach to supporting veterans and their families in addressing housing challenges. By providing a holistic range of services beyond just housing assistance, the initiative aims to ensure the well-being and stability of those who have served their country. It is heartening to see organisations recognising the unique needs of veterans and stepping up to offer tailored support to this deserving group within the community.
