Charity ASH Scotland Encouraging Youth Groups to Join New Youth Conversations Hub
ASH Scotland is calling on youth groups in Lanarkshire to participate in its newly launched Youth Conversations Hub. The hub aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources regarding smoking and vaping among youngsters, empowering them to make well-informed decisions for their long-term health. By offering a series of in-person and online events, ASH Scotland seeks to provide individuals involved in youth organizations with the opportunity to network and enhance their understanding of how smoking and related products like e-cigarettes impact young people.
Through the Youth Conversations Hub, young people are encouraged to voice their opinions and share their experiences with smoking and vaping via a youth survey running until November 29. Sheila Duffy, the chief executive of ASH Scotland, emphasised the importance of equipping youth group organisers and volunteers with the tools to engage in conversations with young individuals, increase their awareness around smoking and vaping, and empower them to make healthy choices to safeguard their physical and mental well-being.
The hub also aims to raise awareness among young people about the marketing strategies of the tobacco and e-cigarette industries targeting children, encouraging them to advocate for healthy lifestyles by rejecting smoking and vaping. ASH Scotland is committed to amplifying the voices of young people and is conducting a survey through youth organizations involved in the hub to ensure that the youth themselves are central to efforts to create a generation free from tobacco by 2034.
