Shotts Retailer Honoured with Industry Award for Heroic Act
Alison Lennon, the manager of Day-Today store in Shotts, has been recognised with a prestigious industry award for her quick thinking and heroic actions that saved the life of a distressed customer. The Scottish Local Retailer’s first-ever Astonishing Act Award was presented to Alison in acknowledgement of her exceptional efforts that left the judges deeply moved.
Alison, who has dedicated over 20 years to serving her local community, demonstrated her unparalleled understanding of her customers when she noticed the absence of one of the regular elderly shoppers. Acting on her instincts, Alison decided to check on the customer at his home when he failed to visit the store for his daily newspaper.
Upon reaching the customer’s house, Alison discovered that he had suffered an accident the night before and was unable to seek help. With no key to enter the premises, Alison comforted the customer through the letterbox and promptly contacted emergency services, who intervened to rescue him by breaking down the door.
