Dumfries Station and its team of dedicated gardening volunteers were celebrated at the annual ScotRail in the Community Awards for their outstanding contributions. The Dumfries Adoptive Railway Gardeners, who maintain two gardens at the Dumfries train station, were honoured with the title of Scotland’s Adopted Station of the Year for the second consecutive year. Additionally, they were recognised as Adopter(s) of the Year for their exceptional efforts.
The group, comprising 10 members, is committed to creating a welcoming environment at the station through their gardening work. Their sustainable practices include replacing annual plants with perennials and encouraging wildlife to thrive in the gardens. Judges commended the Dumfries Adoptive Railway Gardeners for their continuous dedication in making the station a pleasant space for all travellers.
