A wildlife enthusiast, James Cook, had an incredible experience in Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. He claimed to have found the “UK’s rarest wild animal,” the Scottish Wildcat, which he shared in a viral post on TikTok. Despite initial disbelief from others, James persisted and showcased his remarkable discovery to his 296,000 followers.
In the video, James explained that the Scottish Wildcat is an extremely rare breed with less than 100 individuals remaining in the UK. He highlighted the distinct features of the wildcat, including its larger size compared to a domestic cat, an angrier appearance, and a thick banded tail. James also mentioned the conservation efforts being made to reintroduce Scottish Wildcats into the park by the organization Saving Wildcats.
After reaching out to Saving Wildcats, James discovered that the specific wildcat he encountered was named Crypto. Though Crypto had to be neutered due to being born Cryptorchid, he now roams the Cairngorms National Park with a stable territory. James concluded by sharing his excitement at witnessing such a rare animal in its natural habitat but warned of the skepticism he faced online.
