Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist has bravely disclosed that he is living with an incurable hand condition that causes his fingers to bend towards his palms. The 62-year-old revealed that he has been dealing with Dupuytren’s contracture for a number of years. The cause of the condition remains unknown, though it tends to run in families and worsen with age, impacting about 20% of individuals over 65 years old.
The standard medical approach for severe cases involves straightening surgery, usually performed when the fingers have bent entirely inwards. The procedure entails cutting away or completely removing affected tendons to alleviate the condition.
