Inspectors from the Loo of the Year Awards made a recent visit to pubs in Rutherglen and Cambuslang to assess the quality of their washrooms. Two Main Street pubs, The John Fairweather in Cambuslang and An Ruadh Ghlean in Rutherglen, received recognition for the high standard of their toilets. The John Fairweather was awarded a platinum grading, while An Ruadh Ghlean surpassed that with a platinum plus grading.
The Loo of the Year Awards is open to all washrooms in various categories. Inspectors visited thousands of sites across the UK, including the two pubs in Rutherglen and Cambuslang owned by Wetherspoon. Criteria for judging included décor, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing facilities, and overall management. Toilets can be graded from bronze to diamond, with unacceptable toilets not receiving a grade.
