The Rutherglen Community Safety Awareness team recently held their successful final event of the year at the Rutherglen Exchange Shopping Centre. The event, which took place on November 26, aimed to provide practical information on topics such as home fire safety and how to avoid falling victim to scams. Organiser Barry Cathie expressed his satisfaction with the event, mentioning that they engaged with many community members to discuss safety concerns, particularly focusing on issues related to fraud and scams.
Throughout the year, the team collaborated with various partners including the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Police Scotland, South Lanarkshire Council Trading Standards, St Andrew’s First Aid, Neighbourhood Watch Scotland, and Healthy n Happy Community Trust. These partnerships helped in spreading safety tips and advice to the community.
Aside from informative sessions, the event also featured a Christmas raffle, with Lynne Greenhorn emerging as the lucky winner of a basket of goodies. Barry Cathie took the opportunity to thank everyone who had supported the team throughout the year, including the Rutherglen Exchange Shopping Centre Manager, Jane Cowan, for her continuous support and hospitality.
