A recent poll suggests that Scots overwhelmingly support key policies introduced by the SNP Government. The survey conducted by Survation revealed strong backing for initiatives such as free prescriptions, free university tuition, the Scottish Child Payment, and the nationalisation of ScotRail. According to the poll commissioned by think tank Progress Scotland, Scots also endorse policies like the free bus pass for over 60s, childcare entitlement, small business rates discount, and the promotion of renewable energy.
Progress Scotland’s managing director, SNP Culture Secretary Angus Robertson, highlighted the positive impact of SNP policies on the lives of people in Scotland. SNP MSP Jackie Dunbar noted the milestones achieved since the SNP came into power in 2007, including significant cost savings for families through childcare provisions and free prescriptions. Dunbar emphasised the SNP Government’s commitment to safeguarding Scottish interests from Westminster policies.
The poll results revealed strong public support for various SNP initiatives. 82% of Scots back free prescriptions, 65% support the Scottish child payment, 63% agree with the nationalisation of ScotRail, and 73% believe in free university tuition. Additionally, there is broad approval for policies such as free bus travel for over 60s and disabled individuals, entitlement to 1,140 hours of free early learning and childcare, small business rates discounts, and the goal of meeting 100% of electricity demand from renewable sources.
The survey, conducted from November 1 to 15 through online interviews with 3,016 adults, reflects the widespread endorsement of key SNP Government policies among the Scottish population.
