Plans for holiday cabins and a new restaurant beside the picturesque Black Loch in Falkirk are on track to receive approval, as Falkirk Council gets ready to deliberate on the proposals. RWD Group is seeking permission to develop an area adjacent to the Black Loch, near Limerigg, with the council’s planning committee scheduled to discuss the plans on January 15. While the Black Loch Fishery closed after being purchased by the developers in 2022, the surrounding area continues to attract wild swimmers, fishermen, and walkers.
Situated south of the B825, close to the B8022 junction at Limerigg village and bordering North Lanarkshire, the site currently features a boathouse for equipment storage, toilets, changing facilities, and a boat mooring jetty. The proposed development includes a restaurant, 12 holiday lodges, enhancements to the existing boathouse, a play area, parking facilities, and landscaping. The plans include provision for 84 parking spaces – 36 for the restaurant, 24 for the lodges, and 24 for the jetty.
Originally up for consideration in November, a site visit delayed the decision, allowing members to assess the area first-hand. Falkirk Council’s planning officers support the development subject to investigations into potential risks from coal mining activities and satisfactory upgrades to the access route from the B825. The council’s planning committee will convene on January 15 to discuss the project at the Grangemouth Community Education Unit.
